For a couple of years now I have really wanted to go to Abu Dhabi and compete at the WWA Worlds. However, due to the dates of the competition, in previous years I have been unable to attend because of school. However this year I am on a gap year so going to the Worlds was the #1 trip on my list!
The contest was held at Al Forsan Cable Park which is the perfect site! The wakeboarding cable was slightly different to what I'm used to riding on as it's a clockwise cable which means that performing air tricks are a little different so it took me a few days to adjust. All the rails are super smooth and the cable is floodlit at night so most days I was practicing until 9pm.
The riding level at the Worlds was insane! It was awesome to be on the dock watching riders like Tom Fooshee and Julia Rick absolutely throw it down! It was definitely an experience getting to ride and watch other riders out there!
In the contest I entered the 'junior women' category and 'open women features'. I was pretty nervous and didn't know what to expect as I'd never competed in a WWA event before. I was stoked to stick all my runs during the competition and coming away with the Junior Women World title and Open Women Features World title was crazy - I never expected to do that well!
I'd like to thank everyone who has helped and supported me this year! I had such a great time riding out in Abu Dhabi and hopefully will get to go to the Worlds again next year.
