Sunday, 22nd September, JB Ski, Clothes for Kids Competition. So, after the day before's boat riding and a stop over in a noisy hotel, I was back on the cable for the IWWF ranked competition. It was another warm day with perfect conditions on the lake. I moved up to ride in Open Ladies category, where there were 5 of us. I qualified in first place in the qualifying round, then took 2nd in the finals, which I was more than happy with. Thanks to Sophie Cordery for organising this charity event, Andy and Clare for the yummy Chilli, and JB Ski staff for a great weekend.
Saturday, 21st September, and it was time for stop 3 of the AOD boat competition. There were riders of all ages competing across several divisions. There were 5 riders in my category and conditions on the lake were perfect. It was great to see all the girls have stepped up their riding since stop 1! I enjoyed riding behind Lee's Axis wake boat again, and was super stoked to take the top spot. Big thanks again to LDB Wakeschool, Wakeboard UK, Lee and Heather for another great day. Saturday 14th September I headed up to Chasewater Watersports Centre, West Midlands, for the Ryan and Tony Birch Memorial competition. The event was well supported by wakeboarders from all over the country. I was really looking forward to ride behind the Super Air Nautique G23 again, and found the wake massive. I managed to win Junior Ladies title and the day brought back memories of the first time I entered this competition in 2009, and again, it was an honour to participate. I'd like to say a big thank you to Midlands Nautique, Chasewater Watersports Centre, all the judges, volunteers and organisers a great day. Just one day after my trip to Poland I headed back down to JB SKi for a few days training on the cable at the BWSF talent development camp. It had been a while since I had been out on the cable due to practicing for the boat Europeans prior to Poland, so I was excited to get back out there. After 3 days training off water and on the cable, the week soon flew by, then early on the Sunday I headed off to Sweden with the GB cable team. I'd been to Fagersta in 2010 for the IWWF Boat Europeans, before the cable was built on the same lake. So I was looking forward to going back and revisiting the town. The cable was super high, poppy and the obstacles were super nice as well so the competition was set to be good! All the teams finished their official training on the Tuesday ready for the qualifications and lcq's on the Wednesday. I was super pumped that I qualified straight through to the finals and couldn't wait to ride again. The finals were tough. My first run placed me 3rd, then just before it was time for my second run, I dropped down to 5th place! After listening to CK's advice on the dock, I stuck my second run and couldn't believe that I had moved up into 2nd place taking the silver medal! The team took silver overall with 3 golds, 3 silvers & 1 bronze! Thank you to CK, team coach, Ralph, team captain & Clare, team mum for all your support out in Sweden! A huge thanks to everyone that has helped me this year! The British Waterski & Wakeboard Federation for organising the development camps and help, my sponsors, Liquid Force, Sports Aid, Wake Mafia, Ultrasport Eu & Box End Park and also my Mum and Dad for supporting me :)
August has been crazy! My first competition overseas this year was the IWWF Boat Wakeboard Europeans in Wieniawa, Poland. The GB Boat Team flew out to Poland early on the Tuesday so some of us could get a quick practice set before the competition started on the Wednesday. When we arrived it felt like we were still in England with the air temperature not too warm and the lake looking super rough! Once we'd dumped our luggage all the Team GB girls went out on the boat for practice sets and luckily by then the lake had calmed down loads and everyone was riding sick! The next day the competition began and again the lake was super rough and conditions proved tricky behind the huge 2013 Mastercraft Xstar. Unfortunately, in my qualifying heat I fell twice quite early in my run, so I missed out on qualifying by a couple of points which meant I ended up in LCQ... In LCQ's on the Thursday the conditions were a lot better, I stuck a run and qualified to the finals! Although I've only been out on a wakeskate once this year behind the boat, (thanks Demi ;)) I was asked to enter Open Women's Wakeskate as more riders were required to open a ladies wakeskate category. Wakeskating was so much fun and I managed to get into the finals via LCQ! In the wakekskate finals I was stoked to land the flat box and get 3rd place! Winning the bronze medal in wakeskate for the team put me in a positive mood for the junior ladies wakeboard finals. I was first out off the dock and laid down a run which I was super pumped about. I watched the others with anticipation, and couldn't believe it when I realised that I had won Gold! The GB boat team rode awesome out in Poland with 3 golds, 1 silver and 1 bronze, just missing out on Team Gold by a mere 25 points. However, everyone was proud to bring the team silver back home! Thank you Wakeboard UK, Sam Carne (team captain) and BWSW for their support to the team!
